I'm adding this much after the fact, but I've been reading about Libya and have found many interesting things. It's one of the oldest cultures on Earth, with a huge trove of prehistoric art sites (more than 100,000). The religion and culture are related to those of Egypt, and Isis and Set were worshipped there at one point. One school of academic thought believes that Osiris originated as a Libyan god, as may have Amun, the sun god. Many of the peoples who ended up settling northern Europe millenia ago came from Libya or passed through on their migrations. The Libyan Great Goddess was the center of a snake cult, and became demonized as the Lamia vampire of the Mediterranean region (hello Britney Spears and Ke$ha wearing snakes in their performances). Even Athena may have been Libyan in origin. This place is extremely important in human development and cultural development in the ancient world. No wonder something is going on there.

@ Brandon - how totally random I came back here today. I can see why you are saying that. I do agree with what you are saying, about how absolutely peaceful Jesus was. The only time he acted out was at the moneychangers......tells ya something huh? lol He told us, He is sending us out as sheep amongst wolves, be wiser than serpents, yet gentle as doves. I can understand Mr. B's post in that some people do not excercise the 'dove-ness' part. I agree with that if people are calling names etc....I guess the part that really sits with me wrong, or seriously disturbs my peace, is the Jesus and Mohammend would sit and 'talk things out'. No they wouldn't, they might have a conversation, and Jesus would show only love, but it would be a dividing one.
There is a move right now, big one, to unite faiths of the world which is THE set up for the one world religion. It is happening right now. Even people as mainstream as Glenn Beck is promoting it. That type of mentality will fall right into it. 1 Tim 4:12 & 2 Tim 4:2-4 - this is for believers too. I understand why you would say I'm taking that particular scripture out of context, but it is a much more complicated issue. Jesus/Yeshua IS the divider........God Bless Brandon. Sometimes I go from A to D and forget B and C...forgive me for that. I"m working on it!!

This is an excellent article on what I am talking about - and a cool little youtube on the same thing.

Sarah, that passage about peace on earth, you are severely taking out of context. In that passage in Luke, the second coming of Christ is the subject matter. Surely, the Bible teaches that the second coming of Christ will indeed be something that causes division and strife on earth, because it will be the rapture and judgement. Also, it relates to how a person's individual acceptance of Christ and belief can divide their family due to differing beliefs. Belief in Christianity / Christ is not an non-divisive action. By its very nature, believing in something will often push away others who don't share said belief.

He is not speaking of his physical time on earth, during which his demeanor was often peaceful. Did not Jesus speak with the pharisees? Did not Paul speak with philosophers?
