So, how many here love Horror movies? I know I frickin' do! I practically raised myself on them; like oxygen, like food. Did you know the Horror genre is the most diverse of them all? It's likely even those who have an aversion to the genre can find something they do like should they want to look for it.

How is it the most diverse, you ask? It has the most subgenres of any other, that's how. There's classic horror, monster movie, creature feature, sci-fi, paranormal/supernatural, "torture porn", zombie, slasher, psychological, found footage and many more.

So, what types of horror movies do YOU like? Big Grin

I liked horror movies growing up it was mostly the really old dracula films, thinks like curse of the mummys tomb, weird films about black magic, Alfred Hitchcock was amazing also really loved Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Stephen King. I was really weird I had a really odd crush on Christopher Lee as dracula tbh lol

Twilight Zone movie was also brilliant, anybody remember thing thing on the wing on the plane, what about a film called Cats Eyes too am sure that was a really old Stephen King film, it was like three stories in one, one was about this stop smoking thing that guaranteed you to stop smoking, by torturing your pets, cutting off your wifes fingers etc lol

My all time favorite ever episode of The Twilight Zone was one of the really old black and white ones called To Serve Man, dunno if any of you seen it but if you are a fan of stuff like this its a definite must!!

I also vaguely remember Day of the Triffids or something like that!

I liked this B movie called Slashers. Was a Japanese game show where contestants had to make it through this maze where 3 actual serial killers were hiding about, ready to sneak up and kill them. Seemed an accurate commentary on reality TV.

Used to have a thing for Michael Myers in the early movies, before they started using popular actors in the Halloween series. Didn't mind the third one that had nothing to do with him either as it, too, was decent social commentary. Just dragged on at the end! Why drag an ending on for 20 minutes? So annoying!

Other than that, not much for horror. I don't like blood, death, or violence (despite being a fan of some "horrorcore" rap.) I dislike action movies for nearly the sane reasons.

That movie Mirrors terrified me! I already have a fear of mirrors in the dark (thanks, Bloody Mary) so that movie really freaked me out.

Thing on the wing with John Lithgow if I recall -  yes! that was so scary... for awhile after I saw that I used to never close the window shade when I would fly because I was afraid to open it back up!

I only watched the opening scene of to serve man, it reminded me of being on the phone with the electric company- I hate when I cant talk to a person!    This line was funny:   "On earth it is 12 noon"   - ummm, where on earth? lol.  Maybe when I have a time I'll watch the whole thing.

Thanks for the link Cameron.  I forgot about  those old Twilight zones  ... cree - py.

Ah, you're talking about Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

Many don't like the movie, but I loved it. It's a great fun horror movie.

I take it you're not a fan of Hellraiser?

I love it, one of the best from the 80's, and there are a lot of great horrors from that time. They don't make supernatural horror movies like this anymore. Now, it's all about the pseudo realistic haunting crap. If I wanted to watch crap like that, i'd get real ghost footage.

Pinhead? Pinface? Is that the one, with the box thing? I can see why others like it, but I don't enjoy being scared or uncomfortable. I don't like watching others suffer, even if its "acting" or "justified". I do enjoy the Supernatural series. Even then, I can't watch the show then sleep mostly alone (my cat, teddy bear, and Minecraft plush kinda count but don't exactly make me feel any less alone) I think I like Supernatural because its funny as well. I like things that make me laugh. I haven't watched that show in over a year now. (Of course, I also had to take a break from it when I got too hooked on Dean Winchester...)

But yeah, I don't knock others for liking horror movies. Not everyone is as squeamish as me. Closing my eyes during scenes of brutality doesn't help, only confuses. The victims often sound as though they're enjoying sexual acts until they start screaming bloody murder, or blubbering " oh please God no", but their other noises are very easy to confuse with other acts. I think this may be deliberate in an attempt to further blur the line between sex and violence, perhaps even to churn out more psychopaths who enjoy torturing and raping others. An acquaintance of mine once said aloud "I don't know what it is, but there's something so sexy about a girl covered in blood." Wtf?! Sounds like someone who'd get a kick out of snuff films.

Yeah, you're correct, it's Pinhead. Smile

I used to love Supernatural. That is, until it turned into a damned drama around Season 5. Sam and Dean fight way too much; my God. Not to mention those angels! I cannot stand them; they're always around. The show practically revolves around angels now. I much preferred the show sticking with different creatures of different lores and such; ghosts and monsters. I expected angels to appear sometime, but not stick around for four whole damned seasons!

On another note though, the character Kevin Tran (played by Osric Chau) was a damned sex beast; seriously. I have never felt like a girl while watching a show until he was introduced. I wanted him dead so that I don't have to look at him anymore.

That friend of yours has some issues if he finds blood attractive. Is this person a vampire? It's a serious question, by the way.

I always felt he was reptilian, tbh, though unaware that he is. Haven't seen him in years.

I do see your point on Supernatural. Even on season 10 it was still carrying on with the demon/angel thing. I do love Castiel, though. If I was stupid enough to have another kid (not bloody likely!) I'd name him Castiel were it a boy. But yeah, I don't want to do this again full time. I got one of each. I'm good.

And yes, you were quite right on Halloween 3. Glad to find someone else who liked it! *high five! Cuz I'm lame!* I think the film maker had intentions of making the series about different Halloween horrors, but the fans demanded more Myers. I admit, I had a crush on him for a time. Later found out it was cuz I couldn't stand my then-bfs family after having a dream where Michael murdered his to be with me. That was a disturbing realization to say the least. I wouldn't want anyone to kill anyone, especially for me! I guess I have a violent streak in me that I try to deny.

I did feel sorry for Jason in that movie with Freddy. Freddy is a nasty, evil pos! There's a Crystal Lake near my bff. I keep telling her to let her son have a sleepover one Friday the 13th and make them watch the movies, then next day bring them to Crystal Lake and have her husband come running out in a hockey mask with chainsaw. It'd be hilarious!

So, I recently found out about a new horror movie that is coming out to theatres soon. It looks good as hell and I want to see it so bad.

Have a look. :-)
