People who surrender their former religious beliefs have got to be some of the smartest and bravest people in the world because they set out to find truth even while under the threat of "eternal damnations". George Carlin

Important post. No doubt, teen prostitution is here in the US, just hidden under layers of multiple cultures.

Teenage prostitution sadly happens everywhere. A couple years ago my then-bf was volunteering at a teen shelter (one I'd stayed at back in the late 90's) He told me how the young girls would convince other girls to "go make money downtown" He would overhear them talking when they thought the workers weren't near. Of course, there was nothing he could do to stop them. When I was a teen at the shelter, we had eachothers backs. The worst we'd do for money is ask strangers for a quarter to make a phone call. Get enough quarters, you could buy a drink or something small to eat. Actually, I would panhandle in front of the strip club sometimes, and get propositioned. I figured any money they were leaving with they'd been planning to blow anyways and I needed it more. Never slept with any of the guys for it, though.

It breaks my heart, these poor young girls. And boys, too. Just because they don't talk about it as much doesn't mean the boys are safe.
