The Matrix opens a lot of questions to the watcher. Wether Matrix (the original) when the agent tells Morpheus that he hate humans (really, can machines hate? if the do, they feel? if they feel, what sets the appart from us?), Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions (Didn't Neo became like god in this Matrix? If not then what is he? why in a scene of fight we see him bleed? why does it end being sacrificed to the machines?) or even Animatrix (Is the seccond Renaissance like the Jews story but with different scene and ending? Is the last flight of the Osiris a Monarch programming tool?)
Many questions, but my point is that one: The Matrix opened topics of thinking.
Jupiter ascending is like a modern fairy tale, it didn't make me wonder things. Actually I noticed how many concepts that the elite want to push were being like "sold" in the movie : Everlasting life (sacrificing a lot of people), genetic coincidence (reincarnation), one ruler of the earth (NWO), genetic improved hybrids (chimeras) and technology of all kind (at least in this one there's no AI as a main character). Jupiter Ascendig for me was like a catalog of idas that the Elite wants to push put in a classical way. No questions, just premade answes.
There still better movies than The Matrix, but if I have to choose between Jupiter ascending and The Matrix my choive would be obvious.
