There's truth to what you say but I've got it and it's not the end of the world.

Hex posted some useful code in this thread:

Windows 10 is spying on you

I use Linux mint & Ubuntu 12 OS
They are free, there are no spying and few virus issues.

Windows 10 covertly sends your disk-encryption keys to Microsoft https://boingboing.net/2015/12/29/window...-your.html

Windows 10 is, from what I have read, a great security risk. I am a data network engineer and the information that I have read shows Windows 10 sending telemetry that cannot be turned off. Telemetry that consists of encrypted data. Windows 10 is also reported to be impossible to stop from doing this as it uses random ports and IPV 6 addresses. With these addresses it is currently impossible to identify who the data is going to.

In addition to this, I am currently on Windows 8.1 and Microsoft pushed updates in a very sneaky way to try and get users to adopt Windows 10. These updates also were reporting back unknown information to the mother ship.
So, if you are on Windows 7 and 8.1 you need to uninstall certain updates.

No, they keep trying to pressure me into it, though. Every so often there's a popup saying "Download Windows 10" and I just ignore it. I don't see any need to change when things are fine the way they are now.

Thanks Portent for your post and the links.

I am using Windows 8.1, two of the updates were already installed on my PC, I just removed them and my computer performance has immediately improved.

I just bought a computer and I'm waiting for it to be delivered (special online offer).

It has Windows 8.1 installed. What can I do to get rid of Windows altogether?

Sorry if that's a retarded question.

Windows still exist?

I'm all Linux now so I forget about the whole O/s debate.
