I've heard it said that the reason YouTube has so many channels with video games on them (with millions of views) is because the Elite want us dumb. Everyone who watches these channels are apparently very stupid "sheeple" who don't know any better; according to them, anyway. And such people say these things not just about video games, but of anything that is not deemed a research topic.
This is coming from from someone who has wasted probably almost 50,000 hours of his life on "entertainment".
Regardless of what the original intent with such mediums were, are we not to enjoy them anymore just because we're "awake"? So, the only thing "awake" people should do is work and research conspiracy? I mean, with the way some of them talk, they don't leave much room to do much else.
I personally believe some respite is good. I believe maybe an extended respite (however long that would be for you) is healthy. To consume your life with this could become detrimental.
What say you guys?
This life is short, especially compared to eternity in the afterlife. Entertainment is nothing but a waste of your time, money, and attention. Games aren't even a restful activity, and most forms of entertainment now of days are filled with all sorts of nasty things, even subliminals. They're especially effective when you are in a relaxed state, they will easily seep into your subconscious. We must be in control of our faculties, so we can be of right mind to face what ever troubles may be ahead. There is a war going on both physically and spiritually and so many people around us are in constant need of help. There is always something better we could be doing, and remember if you work hard you will become stronger, you will gain more stamina, and you will build all around better character. Keep in mind you are also getting gifts in the afterlife for your hard work in this life. Sure everyone gets tired though, everyone needs rest and recreation, but do we need to play video games, watch movies/TV, or listen to music to get that? Get outside, go on a camping trip, go to the lake, go play with your friends or family, if you must stay in do some arts and crafts, learn an instrument, do something creative just use your imagination.
This is exactly what I was talking about and why I started this topic.
First off, this widespread belief that subliminals effect us as much as some people would have you believe is bullshit. They don't work nearly as well as you make it seem. You also mention being more susceptible while being in a relaxed state, which seems to imply alpha waves. I had a heated debate on the forum before on how those studies are bullshit. The studies having to do with the waves had to do with cathode ray tube televisions; which are largely obsolete at this point.

Are you referring to God giving us gifts based on our works? While i'm sure those will be great, I don't do good works for gifts; I do them because I feel it's right and I want to.

Do we need those forms of entertainment? I can't speak for you, but yeah, I sure do. Does that make me a lesser person? Hell no. I'm still just as knowledgeable about these things as anyone else, and i'm just as aware. Do you think that just because I love video games, horror movies, some forms of music etc that I somehow don't like hiking, camping, fishing, spend time with friends and family? Are these mutually exclusive? I can do all of the above just fine.

Arts and crafts? Uh no. I'm not the arts and crafts type of person. While I may do something like that with someone as something spontaneous, i'd never make a hobby out of it.
I do plan on learning an instrument; the violin, actually. I plan to buy one sooner or later.
I'm a fictional writer, so I have plenty of imagination.
I guess it's pretty obvious by now that I vehemently disagree with you. I find it very jarring when one condemns the hobbies of others (no matter the intent) and suggests other hobbies for them to get into. That's very presumptuous and condescending.
Lastly, there is no "entertainment"; there is only entertainment. Entertainment is different things to different people. To put it in quotes implies that you know what true entertainment is; but the only thing you do know, is your own preference.
