The same passage in the Bible which you quote Matt 7:20-23 states " Thus by their fruit will you know them. Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord', will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell tham plainly, ' I never knew you. Away from me you evildoers'" Just because a person does good things does not mean that the fruit hidden with in their heart is the will of the Father in heaven! We are not redeemed by acts, but by the perfect Grace of God!

Well, The thing is that Cain ofered some flowers to god, because he didn´t have animals for a sacrifice, but god prefered the sacrifice ofered by Abel, and ignored Cain´s. Then, he saw that god prefers sacrifices, and gave him his brother; after that, god was so hipocrit and blamed him, after seting on him a defense seal. You can read it in Genesis...

with the story of Cain and Abel, God rejected Cain's offering because He asked them to bring the best of their offerings, in which Abel brought the whitest and purest of his fold while Cain kept the best for himself and gave God the second best. Just clearing it up for u. :)

Thank you for your comment. It was beautiful. I suggest, not only Mormans, but every person in religion to read your comment. People get so caught up in the traditions of their religions and fail to notice that its not the religion they should be following but Jesus, my Lord and Savior, himself. He is the only way to heaven, please understand this people!

Mormons believe that Lucifer, after he rebelled and was cast out of heaven, became Satan. Wikipedia states that "In English, 'Lucifer' generally refers to the Devil". I believe most Christians would feel that the suggestion of worshiping Lucifer is akin to worshiping the Devil or Satan. I know some people don't accept that Lucifer and Satan are essentially the same person, but I believe most Christians do.

I would say it's the same reason people get tattoos of Kanji symbols with no idea of the multiple meanings of those symbols -- they just think it looks cool.

Why did the Nazis choose the already taken swastika? Why do fertility symbols represent life in agrarian cultures and subversion in mainly male-centered religions?

Symbols only have the meaning that people give to them. That meaning changes over time according to circumstance. The fact that such changeable meaning strikes such fear/aggression/repulsion in you is an indicator of the power of symbols over your life.

Lazy minds would prefer that symbol meanings remain the same in every situation simply because the world would make more sense that way, but that is not the case. The world and we humans that occupy it don't make much consistent sense actually, but a nice black and white "this is evil/this is good" wrapping paper would help many sleep better at night.

I do not doubt that VC is a person well studied on the meaning of symbols throughout time, which is the reason I even read this website. But putting on his "symbol meaning for a certain time and place" glasses to read every single building, music video, and presentation is just lazy and biased unpacking of artistic work. One only needs to read ten articles on this site to realize that he pulls from the exact same bag of tricks with the exact same slant every single time. One might even go so far as to say, he already knows the outcome of his research before he embarks. He's just going through the motions with these articles.

I don't mean to be a drag and I'm actually not a big fan of the LDS for reasons more concrete than vague symbolism, but after reading several of the articles on this site I just had to say something. To all those who see sinister in every symbol, I have two pieces of advice: (1) use this same biased thinking to look at the symbolism in Christianity which borrowed very heavily from so many other belief systems - some of the same systems criticized right here on Vigilant Citizen and (2) travel, meet people different than you, learn their ways and customs, and try to cast aside your own bias. It will open your mind and enrich your life exponentially.

Beyond that, please be at peace and prosper. :)

dude, you are 100% right. the nazi's gave the swastika a bad image. just like satan does, the swastika really used to mean good fortune. now it means, I'M AN ASSHOLE!
